BONOBO live performance at the metro, chicago - april 2010
from his early days as a UK downtempo pioneer on tru thoughts records, BONOBO aka simon green has become one of the most popular artists on the ninjatune roster. green turned his early production success into years touring europe as a DJ. as his music became more lush and lyrical, the multi-instrumentalist followed in the footsteps of labelmate j. swinscoe (of CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA) to recreate and expand his studio work on-stage with a live ensemble. this fortuitous move has drawn BONOBO large crowds in the difficult US market, selling out chicago's metro on the eve of his latest ninjatune lp release "black sands". special thanks to the fine people at ninjatune and terrorbird radio for making this possible. photo by will cooper mitchell.
