CHRIS E PANTS (aka CHRISSY MURDERBOT) guest mix + new music from STRAY, BASS CLEF + DISTRICT are featured on this week’s program. WIDMAN begins with short selection of jungle/drum n bass (spanning about 20 years, including a SUBURBAN BASE classic just recently re-released on a new label retrospective compilation), using SQUAREPUSHER’s latest composition for robot musicians to segue into deeper shades of dubstep, and then a mid-tempo mix of synth-funk, mutant acid (from bass veterans), proceeding back in time through breaks (1996) + electro/breakdance (1984).

for the second hour, we have a guest mix from our old friend CHRISSY MURDERBOT in his latest CHRIS E PANTS guise, recorded live at smart bar chicago this spring. we say “old friend”, because we’ve known CHRISSY from when he was too young to drive to the record stores back in kansas city, missouri. and we’ve watched with pride as he’s become a world renown DJ, producer and label impresario at leading edge of musical movements since the turn of the millennium: the ragga jungle revival (the first one), dubstep (dead homies), disco edits (sleazetone) + footwork (loose squares). his encyclopedic knowledge of dance music now turns toward house, acid and disco with the latest CHRIS E PANTS alias and NIGHT OWL DINER label.
